Hydrogen Bomb Exploding
After the USSR had succeeded in building an atomic bomb just like the USA's, the USA felt the need to reposition themselves above the USSR in bombs. President Truman authorized the making of the newest bomb to be built: the hydrogen bomb. The bomb was thermonuclear and fused many atoms. The bomb could destroy a whole city in a matter of time. Once the USA exploded their first hydrogen bomb, everyone knew that the USSR was working hard to make one of their own. Within a year, the USSR set off their first hydrogen bomb. This made the USA and the USSR equal once again in nuclear weapons. Knowing that the USSR had bombs to drop on any country they wanted too sent Americans into a worry mode. They were afraid that the USSR would fire their hydrogen bombs on America because of their hatred for America.
I like the way you explained the United States obsessive need to surpass the Soviet Union in military force.
ReplyDeletei like how you showed how the two countries were always trying to out-do eachother it really showed the competitiveness of the two countries.
ReplyDeleteI like how you explained that the United States went into "worry mode". Citizens in America probably wanted the United States to advance in their weapons to keep the country safe.
ReplyDeleteI like how you explained what American's would have felt after Soviets created their own hydrogen bomb and you also did a good job explaining how competitive the two superpowers were.
